In the Cold of Winter

Friday, December 19, 2014

I painted a few signs this morning by the wood stove. I know, I know... I should be doing something more Christmasy - like wrapping gifts or making food or frantic last minute shopping! But I gave way to what I FELT like doing this time and created instead!
What warmer word to paint, than home, when outside its cold, and wintry?
I don't know why...(but I'm grateful) -
I think about the homeless so much more than I used to! There are so many people in our own dear country who don't have a place they can call home, no cozy bed to lay their head, and often no hot meals to nourish them! Why we are so blest - I have no idea! I just know it makes me responsible to not only be grateful but also to reach out to the needy! I can't help everyone but I can open my hand and give what I have!
My heart goes out to dear ones who are experiencing sickness or even loss of a loved one! I'm sure they're thinking of their heavenly home a lot!! HOME! Jesus is preparing our home even now...n I know it will be more beautiful than we can ever begin to imagine!!!
Think about what the word home means to you this Christmas!!!!

Another Be Still

Be still...

Friday, December 5, 2014

In all the busy- ness of this Christmas Season, take the time to be still...
Whether it's in the quiet of the morning, or the relief you feel when you hit the sheets at night...quiet yourself before God, and know that he's got it!!!!
Be still and KNOW that I am God!

Christmas!

Friday, November 21, 2014

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!
Thanksgiving vacation is almost here, and earlier for us, since we're partying with friends  &  family starting Monday already! I'm looking forward to the relaxation time, fabulous food- like Aunt Kathy's roasht, and pecan pies, and lots of good laughs and chatting with family!! I found time to make a couple of signs for OUR house lately and  am enjoying them on our walls. I also bought some more goodies at an antique barn that I frequent, so if you visit Metal and Crate you should see some " new" signs, doors, and  cabinet doors for your Christmas decor! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

Bathroom re-do

Monday, October 13, 2014

This is . No. WAS . A dark little bathroom but is now transformed to a sunflower yellow and white and chevron gray. It turned out to be exactly the color Amy had envisioned and I love it too! The chevron sign is a bit hard to read but "The Lord make His face shine upon you" seemed appropriate for this sunshiny, often-used room!

Friday, September 26, 2014

Our annual school sale fundraiser is comin up on Oct. 11 and I'm painting furniture like a crazy woman! It's so much fun to make all these transformations ... Making old and worn look like new again! Today a friend stopped by for a few hours to help and also learn... We had a fabulous time! Here's the project we were working on and all the other things that have been on my agenda recently...
See if anything strikes your fancy and come buy it at the Weavertown Mennonite School Sale in Bird in Hand,Pa on Fri. And Sat. Oct10 and 11.

Faithful forever

Thursday, August 21, 2014

This board is ready to be shipped off to Metal and Crate ...telling the world (or whoever it reaches) of our God!!! Let's get the Word out!!!!

Perfect for today!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I wanna hang onto this for dear life today! I'm not totally sure what the word "sovereign" entails but I do know that reign is found inside it and that's good enough for me! GOD knows the future, and He's got it!!! Can't wait to finish this project, but in the meantime as I work on it , I hope this phrase sinks deep into my heart somewhere!

Little gray dresser

Saturday, August 9, 2014

This dresser was bought dark, and not very attractive, really. But I saw potential in it and decided to paint it a dark gray with bright yellow drawers on the inside to give it some pop! I was so surprised (and probably gave a little gasp) when I saw it over at Metal and Crate dressed like this! The girls did a fabulous job making it look CUTE! It's for sale there at 119.00.

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Lamar bought an old, gold set of furniture at Farmersville Auction consisting of a dresser, a couple nite stands, and  a chest of drawers that he creatively turned into a bench with drawers! This is the dresser, and the last piece to go...I gave it a coat of white paint, and then slathered on some Annie Sloan Arles. Love the color!! So cheery! The clear wax gave it the feel that i like so well! You touch it and it almost feels like glass!

Vintage wooden folding chairs

Friday, April 25, 2014

Matt bought these unique vintage wooden folding chairs at Farmersville auction for next to nothing, and they were just sitting in the garage doing...you guessed it- next to nothing!:) I bought some ticking at Leola Fabric and reupholstered them and now they're looking right pretty!! They're going to Metal and Crate tomorrow morning.I'd be happy if they'd find new owners who appreciate and happily use them!!
